Síona proves she is queen of the Kube at fundraiser for Wexford Senior and Under-21 Football squads

Published on the 21st of August.
Siona Nolan was the proud winner of the €3000 prize money in The Kube fundraiser, which saw 36 sportspeople battle it out in a series of challenging games at St Joseph’s Community Centre.
Standing in as a last-minute replacement for Chantelle Martin, the Wexford Senior Camogie Player got her head in the game for a test on her physical and mental ability. Síona was up against Brian Malone, Donal Shanley and Larry O’Gorman in the close final, which eventually saw her come out on top. Her prize money will be split between herself, Wexford Senior and Under-21 Football squads and a chosen charity.
Eighteen current and 18 former players took part in the fundraiser, which drew huge crowds from around Wexford. GAA players Adrian Flynn, Matty Ford and David Murphy and New Ross swimmer Gráinne Murphy were just some of the big names on the night. All proceeds will go towards Wexford Senior and Under 21 Football squads. Although the total sum has yet to be finalised, Wexford Senior Football Manager David Power reckons that they have achieved their target of between €15,000 and €20,000.

The event, which was sponsored by Aircon Mech, was a play on popular ITV programme ‘The Cube’.
‘It was really well done,’ explained David. ‘We had a great mix of people and it all looked very real.’
